Amplify Major Marketing Moments
One shared playbook for giveaways, product launches, early access drops, events, and brand collaborations, the major moments that turn your TYB community into your loudest marketing channel.
One shared playbook for giveaways, product launches, early access drops, events, and brand collaborations, the major moments that turn your TYB community into your loudest marketing channel.
Overview
A giveaway, a product launch, an early access drop, a community event, and a brand collaboration all look different from the outside, but on TYB they run through the same small toolkit: a Series or Challenge to collect entries and track participation, a Role or Airdrop to gate and grant the reward, and your owned channels to spread the word. This article walks through that shared playbook once, then breaks down what's specific to each of the five moment types you can run.
What Counts as a Major Marketing Moment?
- Giveaways: a prize-driven Series or Challenge that rewards entries with a chance to win something bigger.
- Product Launches: a multi-day hype cycle around a new release, teaser, early access, and launch-day engagement.
- Early Access & Exclusives: gating a Shopify collection or exclusive item to your community ahead of, or instead of, general release.
- Events: an in-person or virtual gathering, gated to a VIP group or open to everyone, rewarded through TYB.
- Brand Collaborations: a co-run moment with a partner brand's TYB community, usually structured as a joint giveaway.
These aren't mutually exclusive. A product launch often includes an early access window, and a giveaway is a great way to kick off a brand collaboration.
Section 1: The Shared Playbook
Decide What You're Gating and Who Gets It
Every moment starts with the same question: what's the reward, and who's eligible for it? For an open giveaway or a launch-day challenge, the answer is usually your whole community. For early access, an exclusive event, or a collab entry, you're gating to a specific group, a Level, a Role you already have (see the VIP Programs playbook if you're building one of these for the first time), or a new one-off Role just for this moment.
Build It in Series or Challenges
- In Brand Admin, go to Engagement β Series to create a multi-step moment, or create a single Challenge if you just need one action.
- Name it clearly so it's identifiable in your reporting later (for example, "Fall Restock Giveaway" rather than "Giveaway 2").
- Add your challenge types: Text Response, Content Upload, Video Submission, and This or That / Multiple Choice all work well and can be mixed.
Keep any single Series to 3-5 challenges. More than that and completion rates drop, since you're asking for more effort than most entrants will give.
Promote Across Every Channel You Own
A moment promoted in only one place underperforms one promoted everywhere. Use email, SMS, Instagram (feed and Stories), and your TYB in-app chat together, and stagger the promotion: a tease before you open entries, a reminder partway through, and a last call before you close.
Reward and Close the Loop
- For everyone who participates: reward completion with the Bonus Reward star in your Series submissions, or send a flat thank-you through Coin Airdrops.
- For a single winner or small group: assign them a one-off Role from their Member Profile (Membership β Members), then fulfill the prize through Gifting if it's product, or a Coin Airdrop if it's coins.
- Announce the outcome back in your community, in chat, on social, in your newsletter. That announcement is what makes the moment feel real and pulls in the next round of participants.
Section 2: Moment-by-Moment Playbooks
Giveaways: reward participation with a prize
- Decide your prize. New product, a limited-edition item, or something from your TYB Shop that your community genuinely can't get anywhere else. Exclusivity drives entries far more than face value does.
- Build your Series with 3-5 challenges (see the shared playbook above), and set your Base Reward to an entry Role like "Giveaway Entrants" so anyone who completes the challenges is confirmed as a valid entry. Create this Role directly in Brand Admin, no Account Manager needed.
- Promote it across every channel you own.
- Close entries, then go to Engagement β Series and export submissions to review them.
- Pick your winner. A random draw from valid entries is the most common approach, though a judged pick works too if you're evaluating creativity or quality.
- Fulfill and announce. Assign the winner a one-off Role, send the prize through Gifting or a Coin Airdrop, and announce the winner in your gated chat and on social.
- Ongoing entry challenges work well for evergreen giveaways (leave the Series open and draw winners monthly).
- Time-boxed giveaways create urgency around a specific drop or moment and tend to see a spike in entries right before close.
Product Launches: build hype across a launch window
Launches run best as a three-part arc rather than a single announcement.
- Tease it. Publish a teaser challenge a few days out, something light like a poll or guess-the-product to start the buzz without giving anything away.
- Give early access. Use the Early Access feature to let your community shop the new collection before it goes public. Gate it to a Level or Role so your most engaged members get first dibs. See Early Access & Exclusives below for setup steps.
- Make launch day an engage day. Schedule a mix of challenge types in advance, This or That, content uploads, multiple choice, so your community has something new to do throughout the day rather than a single post that comes and goes.
Schedule all of your launch-day challenges ahead of time. Building them live on launch day means you're managing logistics instead of watching engagement.
Early Access & Exclusives: let your community shop first
Early Access gates a Shopify collection to your most loyal members so they can shop before your general customer base, directly inside the TYB app.
Prerequisites, confirm before you start:
- The product and collection both exist in Shopify, with TYB Shop enabled and Brand Sales Channel disabled.
- The product is set to Active in Shopify.
- The collection is set to Hidden in TYB Shop.
Setup:
- In Brand Admin, go to Sales β TYB β Early Access and select + Create New Drop.
- Choose the Shopify collection you want to feature.
- Set your Audience: Open to All (everyone sees and shops early), Levels (everyone sees a locked card, only the Level can shop), or Roles (only that Role can see or shop it at all).
- Set your Drop Date, Announcement Date (when the teaser appears in-app), and whether the collection stays available in the regular TYB Shop once Early Access ends.
Promote it hard. Early access only feels exclusive if your community knows about it: lean on email, Instagram Stories, and SMS with exclusivity language ("available first to our community") and urgency (limited time or limited quantity). Brands that pair a strong promotion push with their early access window have seen some of their best sales days on TYB, this is a moment worth your full owned-channel push, not a quiet one.
Events: host something worth showing up for
Events work two ways, and many brands use both.
Public Event + Reward. You're already hosting something, a pop-up, a store opening, a festival booth, and you use TYB to reward the community members who show up. Publish a challenge asking for a photo upload or check-in at the event, and reward completion with coins.
Community-Exclusive Event. Build the event entirely in TYB and gate it to a Role or Level so it reads as true insider access.
- In Brand Admin, go to Events and select Create Event.
- Fill in the name, date, time, location, description, and reward.
- Set the audience to your Role or Level so only eligible members can see and RSVP, and cap attendees if needed.
- Share the event's RSVP link, or let members find it in-app.
- Check members in by QR code or manually in Brand Admin, coins are granted automatically on check-in.
Events can't be edited once published, review everything before it goes live.
Challenge ideas for either type: photo uploads from the event, a text response about the highlight of the day, or a multiple-choice poll on favorite moments or where to host the next one.
Brand Collaborations: run a moment with a partner brand
Collabs pair your community with a complementary brand's for a shared moment, more reach, better prize economics, and cross-community discovery, without either brand covering the full cost alone.
- Find the right partner. Look for a brand that shares your customer demographic without competing directly: adjacent categories (skincare and wellness, food and beverage), a similar price point and aesthetic, and an active TYB community with a consistent challenge cadence. Browse the TYB discovery feed or ask your Brand Success Manager for suggestions.
- Come in with a specific idea, not a vague "want to collab?" message. A seasonal moment, a launch tie-in, or a shared-values activation (two wellness brands running a morning routine challenge together) is far more compelling than an open-ended pitch.
- Make the ask short. If you know the brand, explain your plan and why it fits, and suggest a quick 15-minute chat. If you don't, ask your Brand Success Manager to make the introduction.
- Align on the structure before you build anything: TYB doesn't support a single challenge posted across two communities, so each brand builds and posts its own version, with coordinated copy and timing. Agree on prize value and winner count (2-5 winners is typical) and a timeline (most collab challenges run 7-14 days).
- Build your version in your own Brand Admin. Use a title format like "[Your Brand] x [Partner Brand]: [Activation Name]" and name both brands in the description. Suggested entry steps: join the partner brand on TYB, tag a friend in a shared Instagram post, and respond to a prompt (for example, which product from each brand they'd gift and why).
- Promote together: coordinated Instagram posts and Stories from both brands, email announcements, chat mentions, and SMS if you have it.
A few things to keep in mind: both brands need an active TYB community for the reach to work, each brand typically fulfills its own winners separately, and you can track results through Advanced Analytics (community growth, entries, engagement) plus Klaviyo segmentation to see how many new members stick around long-term.

Best Practices
- Keep any Series to 3-5 challenges. More than that and completion rates drop off fast.
- Make the prize or access exclusive to your community. Something available anywhere else won't drive entries the way something TYB-only will.
- Schedule launch-day and event-day challenges in advance. Building them live means you're managing logistics instead of watching engagement.
- Run one Early Access drop at a time. It's a platform limit, but it also keeps each drop feeling special instead of routine.
- For brand collaborations, plan for two separate challenge builds, not one shared posting. TYB doesn't support a single challenge across two communities, so keep copy and timing tightly coordinated between the two versions.
- Loop in your Brand Success Manager before a launch, collab, or big event. They can help with coordination and amplification support you won't get by running it solo.
- Promote across every owned channel you have. A moment promoted in only one place underperforms one promoted everywhere.
- Recap the moment afterward. Winner announcements, event photos, and launch results posted back to your community and socials are often what drives the next signup.
- Track results. Advanced Analytics shows community growth, entries, and engagement, and Klaviyo segmentation shows how many new members convert into long-term participants after a collaboration.
Conclusion
Every major marketing moment on TYB, whether it's a giveaway, a launch, an early access drop, an event, or a collab, runs on the same core toolkit: Series and Challenges to gate and reward, and your owned channels to amplify it. Pick your next moment, build it with the shared playbook above, and put your community to work as your loudest marketing channel.
