Early Access
Gate early access to new product launches to your most loyal community members through TYB.
Overview
TYB’s new Early Access feature allows brands gate new products or collections to their most loyal community members (by Level or Role), directly through TYB’s app. Reward your best customers with first access to new releases to create exclusive moments for your TYB community.
What is Early Access?
Early Access allows brands on TYB to provide an exclusive first-look to shop new product and collection launches in the TYB app. Brands can set up Early Access for a new collection in Shopify and gate to a specific Level or Role — once Early Access is set up for the collection, members with access will see a countdown in their app, allowing them to set a reminder for launch.
When the Early Access period begins, members will be able to shop the new products before the rest of the brand’s customer base.
Early Access Prerequisites
Before a brand can set up Early Access in TYB, they must ensure that both the product(s) and the collection is configured in Shopify followed:
- Both the product(s) and collection must be created in Shopify
- The Sales Channels for the product(s) and collection should be:
- TYB Shop is enabled
- Brand Sales Channel is disabled
- The product must be set to Active in Shopify
Once Shopify is configured, brands must make sure the collection is set to Hidden in TYB Shop. This should be the default, but it’s best to double-check.
How to Use Early Access
After everything in Shopify is configured correctly, brands can move into TYB’s Brand Admin to create their first Early Access drop.
- In Brand Admin, navigate to Sales > TYB > Early Access

- Under Early Access, select the + Create New Drop button

- Select which Shopify Collection will be shoppable in Early Access

- Create and customize the Early Access card in TYB, including:
- Early Access Drop Name
- Thumbnail Image (optional)
- Cover Image (optional)
- Description
- Audience: The Levels and/or Roles that will be able to shop the Early Access drop. Brands can select:
- Open to All: Every member in a brand’s community can see and shop the collection early
- Levels: Every member in a brand’s community can see a locked version of the Early Access card, but only members in the specific Level can view shop early
- Roles: Only members assigned the specific role can see and shop the Early Access drop; it will be hidden for all other members
- Early Access Drop Date and Time: Determines when the collection will be shoppable for members in TYB’s app
- Announcement Date: When the teaser for the Early Access drop will be posted in TYB’s app
- TYB Shop Availability: Determines whether or not the product will be available in the regular TYB Shop after the Early Access period is over

What Does Early Access Look Like For Community Members?
Once an Early Access drop goes live, members will keep track of drops through their TYB app. In TYB’s Global Shop, members will see a dedicated “Early Access” banner at the top of the shop.
- Before the drop begins, eligible members will see a locked banner that blurs the product images and includes a countdown to the drop and a “Notify Me” button.
- Once the Early Access drop is live, the banner will include the brand name, the Early Access drop name, the products in the collections, and a countdown for when the sale ends.

How Brands Can Use Early Access
1. Rewarding your highest-level members
Give Level 3 members first access to a new collection before it's available to anyone else, reinforcing why leveling up is worth it.
Impact:
- Builds a concrete reason for members to keep engaging to reach the next level
- Creates a launch moment that doesn't rely on paid spend
2. Running a fully private drop for a specific group
Role-gate a drop to a VIP or ambassador Role so it's invisible to your broader community, useful for true insider perks.
Impact:
- Protects the exclusivity of your highest-tier program
- Avoids FOMO messaging for members who were never meant to see the offer
Best Practices
- Always set an end date rather than leaving a drop open-ended, since a drop can't be edited once it's scheduled, only ended early or deleted while it's still scheduled.
- If you don't want a teaser period, set your announcement date equal to your start date rather than leaving extra lead time.
- Don't try to add inventory mid-drop, if a product sells out, it shows a sold-out badge but stays visible until the drop ends, it won't restock automatically.
- Avoid scheduling a second drop on the same product until the first drop's end date has passed, overlapping drops on the same collection aren't supported.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What happens if the collection sells out mid-drop?
A: If products sell out while the Early Access period is still going, TYB will display a “sold-out” badge. The collection will still be visible during the full Early Access period. In the current version, brands cannot add additional inventory mid-drop.
Q2: Can I see who participated Early Access period?
A: This feature is coming soon. TYB will include a member and purchaser table in Brand Admin in the future, where you can track who accessed the drop and who purchased.
Q3: Can I create an Early Access drop for products without a collection?
A: At this time, Early Access can only be run for collections. If a product is not in a collection, it won’t be able to be selected when creating an Early Access drop in Brand Admin.
Q4: Can I run multiple Early Access drops at a time?
TYB currently supports one Early Access drop per brand at a time. Brands will be able to create and run a second Early Access drop once the active drop ends.
