TYB Brand Admin Setup Guide

This guide walks you through the full Brand Admin Setup Guide so you can launch smoothly on TYB.

Welcome to TYB! It’s time to start prepping to launch your community, including setting up your brand presence on TYB and building out your community experience.

Once you get access to Brand Admin, the TYB team has broken down the first part of onboarding into four easy steps through our Setup Guide:

What to Know Before Getting Started:

Before you start to build out your community and brand presence on TYB, it’s important to ensure you’re up to speed on what TYB is, how the platform works, and best practices on rolling out your community. This includes reviewing:

  • TYB 101: Understand the basics of TYB, how your community can earn rewards, and the different community phases as your brand builds its presence on TYB.
  • Coins: On TYB, coins are your community currency and the primary way you’ll reward members for engaging with your brand through Challenges, posting Obsessions, referring friends and making purchases on your D2C site.
  • Redemption: As members earn coins in your community, they can redeem these coins for discounts to use for purchases on your D2C site.

Step 2: Complete Integrations

Integrations power key features on TYB and are required before moving forward with your set up.

Required

⚠️ Before you begin: confirm Shopify admin access The person completing this step must have Shopify admin access. This is the most common cause of last-minute launch delays — if you're not sure, check with your team before starting.

  • Shopify Integration: This must be completed to unlock the next step.

  • TYB Shop: Enables reward redemptions and product visibility in-app.

  • TYB Checkout Extension: (Shopify Plus only — recommended) Let members see their TYB coin balance directly from their account page on your website. This takes 5 minutes to set up and reinforces community membership at every touchpoint.

Recommended (strongly encouraged before launch)

  • Klaviyo: Setting up Klaviyo during onboarding ensures your TYB member data (coin balances, membership levels, challenge activity) flows into your email stack from day one. This is the foundation for post-launch flows, segmentation, and your 5% existing customer activation goal. Setup takes about 15 minutes and syncs within 24 hours.

  • Attentive: If Attentive is your Email or SMS platform, connect it during onboarding so TYB member data syncs into your subscriber profiles automatically. Once connected, TYB pushes a rich set of attributes daily — including coin balance, membership tier, join date, and roles — which you can use to build targeted SMS segments and flows. For example, you can trigger a message when a member hits a new membership level, or send a redemption nudge to members with a high coin balance who haven't purchased recently. Setup takes just a few minutes and syncs within 24 hours.

  • Recharge (if applicable): If your brand offers subscriptions powered by Recharge, this integration lets TYB members redeem their coins for a dollar discount on their next recurring charge — directly from their TYB wallet. It's a strong retention play for subscription brands: members who can apply their community rewards toward a subscription renewal have a tangible reason to stay engaged and stay subscribed. Note that this is dollars-only (no percentage redemptions) and applies to the next upcoming charge only. Only set this up if your brand actively uses Recharge for subscriptions.

Step 3: Membership Levels

Membership Levels help you structure your community, reward engagement, and unlock new experiences as members progress. Leveling up gives members access to higher-tier rewards, challenges, and exclusive content, creating a sense of achievement and incentivizing participation.

1. Update Level Names

Choose fun, on-brand names for each membership tier. These names will be visible to members as they level up.

Examples for inspiration:

Outdoor Voices

Daily Doer → Super Doer → Extreme Doer

MCoBeauty

MCoBeauties → MCoBesties → MCoBaddies

Not Your Mother’s

Casual Curlfriend → Mane Attraction → Certified Mother

OLLY

The Gummy Ring → The Power Ring → The Diamond Ring

2. Upload Collectibles (Optional)

If applicable, you can upload collectibles. Membership Collectibles are an optional digital asset that brands can choose to use as part of their TYB community. Think of them like a digital membership card — a fun, visual way for members to show their status and progress within your brand levels. These live in a member’s wallet and can be designed as a single collectible or as different versions for each Level.

Best practice: Use your TYB Coin as the primary collectible.

Step 4: Challenges

Bring your community to life by creating your first challenges. We’ve pre-drafted three challenges to help you get familiar with the creation process. Once those are completed, you’ll be able to add additional challenges before launch—these are simply meant to get you started.

To complete onboarding:

  • Create and schedule three challenges using the guided flow

Once onboarding is complete, you can return anytime to add or update challenges.

Recommended Challenges per Week:

We recommend 5–10 challenges per week post-launch, though 10–15 challenges are also effective for brands aiming for higher engagement.

Final Steps

Once you’ve completed all four steps of the Setup Guide, notify your Implementation Manager so they can review your program and help move you toward launch.

Your Implementation Manager will review your setup to ensure everything is ready for launch. They will share any comments or feedback based on best practices to prepare for launch. Once approved, you’ll gain access to review, adjust key pages, and add more challenges to your program.
